Pysanka is a traditional Ukranian Easter egg decorated using an ancient wax-resistance method, where intricate symbolic designs are "written" in hot beeswax and dyed in multiple layers to create a richly colored and meaningful art form.
Does that sound complicated? It can be as complicated and intricate or as simple as you would like. We will use a variety of techniques. Some modern and some very traditional.
In this class you will create at least 2 of your very own eggs (but you are welcome to do more in the allotted time). The first will be a traditional pattern and the second will be anything of your choosing. Make up your own design or choose from many of the patterns that we will provide.
There are 2 sittings for the day. One at 10:00 am and the other at 2 pm - so be sure to choose the correct time slot.
This workshop has the ultimate atmosphere of being held in the Tea House at the Pioneer Museum in Stony Plain with 5" personals sized Blakes Bakery pie and coffee/tea (included in your class price). Whether you bring a friend or meet new ones you'll be sure to enjoy yourself.
