Pysanka is a traditional Ukranian Easter egg decorated using an ancient wax-resistance method, where intricate symbolic designs are "written" in hot beeswax and dyed in multiple layers to create a richly colored and meaningful art form.
Does that sound complicated? It can be as complicated and intricate or as simple as you would like. We will use a variety of techniques. Some modern and some very traditional.
In this class you will create at least 2 of your very own eggs (but you are welcome to do more in the allotted time). The first will be a traditional pattern and the second will be anything of your choosing. Make up your own design or choose from many of the patterns that we will provide.
There are 2 sittings for the day. One at 10:00 am and the other at 2 pm - so be sure to choose the correct time slot.
This workshop has the ultimate atmosphere of being held in the Tea House at the Pioneer Museum in Stony Plain with a 5" personal sized Blakes Bakery pie and coffee/tea (included in your class price). Whether you bring a friend or meet new ones you'll be sure to enjoy yourself.
